Engineering Surveys and Services

This month the spotlight shines on Engineering Surveys & Services, a charter member of REDI. Engineering Surveys & Services, now celebrating its 50th year, was founded in April 1954 by Jim Reed. Reed was also a co-founder of the Columbia Industrial Development Council which was formed to promote industrial development along the Route B corridor. The firm was purchased by Larry Hendren, Tim Reed and Dave Bennett in 1986, and the company has grown to 46 full time professionals with offices in Columbia, Jefferson City and Sedalia. Their knowledge of the city/county ordinances, building codes, and regional geology has played a key role in hundreds of construction projects in Central Missouri.
Engineering Surveys & Services provides consulting services in resource and project development including transportation, site planning, geotechnical, mining, and environmental engineering. It also offers full and complete surveying services as well as independent laboratory testing. President Larry Hendren says, "At Engineering Surveys & Services, we are committed to working very closely with our clients to build the highest value into their projects. We believe this happens because our staff observes the highest standards of ethical and professional practice and always puts our clients first. As a result, over 99% of our work is from repeat clients and referrals."
Hendren knows that well-planned growth in Boone County and Columbia, along with a strong local economy, has helped make his firm – and many others – a success. He feels that REDI provides the “welcome mat” to companies who want to be a part of that growth and success in the future. Hendren also believes it is important for REDI investors to offer their time and talents to various Boards, Commissions, and City Councils in the region.
