REDI & The Women's Business Center hosted a Family Business Bootcamp February 11 to provide resources and expertise for entrepreneurs who work with members of their families.
The event, held at the REDI Innovation Hub, featured an overview of business model design and best practices related through the lens of family dynamics. The session featured Nate & Jessica Canfield of Nate's Computer Repair, who talked about their experiences running a business together with a growing family.
Childcare and kids' activities were provided by Sitter Getters and Columbia Parks & Recreation so that parents could focus on the Bootcamp and connect with resources. Couples particularly tend to start new ventures together, but it can be hard to utilize resources with a young family. Often couples have to choose between paying for a babysitter or deciding who will be the only one of the couple to attend an event. REDI and the Women's Business Center hope to make it easier for families to be successful in their businesses.
